On Friday, 14th April 2023, a young Nigerian and also follower of Sheikh Zakzaky identified as Khalifa A Umar Suleja, was brutally shot dead on forehead during an International Quds Day rally in Abuja by the Nigerian Army.
Khalifa was 18 years old,he lost his life during a peaceful Quds Procession in Abuja Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
He was among the several Shiite demonstrators who were marching on the streets of Abuja to show their supports and solidarity for Palestinians and the peoples of Gaza.
The procession was held to commemorate the International Quds Day, which is usually marked annually on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan worldwide.
The Quds day is dedicated to show solidarity and sympathy to the oppressed peoples of Palestine, who have been facing and encountering atrocities and oppression at the hands of the occupied Israeli forces for decades.
During the procession, the Nigerian Army opened fire on the peaceful demonstrators, killing Khalifa and injuring many more.
The Army claimed that the demonstrators were armed and violent, but eyewitnesses and videos spotted on the incident showed otherwise.
The protesters were unarmed and are marching peacefully in their procession chanting different slogans for showing their solidarity to the oppressed peoples of Palestine.
Khalifa's Martyrdom has become another example of police and military brutalities against peaceful demonstrators in Nigeria.
The Nigerian government and security forces have a track record of violating the rights of Nigerian citizens, including the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech.
Khalifa's Martyrdom has spurred outrage amongst Nigerians and the international community, demanding justice for him and an end to police and military brutalities in the country.
The Nigerian government must be held responsible and accountable for Khalifa's killing and the lives of all innocent Nigerians that have been lost recklessly due to police brutality.
Khalifa's Martyrdom is an unfortunate reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights violations in Nigeria.
The fight for justice and the end to police brutality must continue reign in the country.
The Nigerian government must act in the interest of its citizens and ensure their rights are protected and Justice must be served for Khalifa A Umar, and all the innocent victims of police and military brutalities in Nigeria.
The Quds procession was carried out in different corners of the world including USA,UK, and other African countries without any threat by security personnel except in Nigeria, where rights of a peaceful citizens are always been violated due to selfishness of the Nigerian leaders and their hunting dogs (Military personnels) to achieve certain goals of their self desires.
May Allah SWT grant patience and endurance to the family and friends of Martyr Khalipha A. Umar.
May Allah SWT accepts his martyrdom and grant him eternal peace.
